I am a freshman now and really don’t like school. I am wondering if there is a way to take school online or something like this. I don’t have a parent willing to teach me, but they are supportive, and I have good time management skills. I am not that seriously considering it, but I’d like to know. Thanks

I’m a junior in high school and I started doing home this year on that website. Each class costs about $ 120 for 0.5 credit and it takes about 1-4 weeks to complete each half credit depending on the difficulty of the class and how much time your willing to spend on it daily.
I started it this year because my grades were horrible and I was missing many days but now that i’m doing these classes they’ve improved quite a lot and I expect to return for my final year.
I really want to teach myself using online classes instead of my dreadful public high school. Can anyone give me some general information on online classes? Any links to websites that offer online classes? One of my classmates at my public high school told me that there are AP classes available to take online. Does anyone know anything about this?
If you live in florida try Florida Virtual School
I have heard there is a place in racine county (wisconsin) that you can call and get inrolled in classes at home with a laptop that the school sends you for free to do your school work on and turn in your answers. this program is free to people in low income faimiles. if you know anything about please help me.
do a search on Charter schools or call the local school and ask.

look at google an here is one good site http://www.foresttrailacademy.com at lest it looks good to me. but you need to talk to your mom and dad first they know what you need. and remember home school is not fun and games you will not have so many friends and find your self spending all your time staying focused.

Whatever you choose to do, it will be work. Either you’ll have to work at putting up with school attendance that you say you don’t like, or you’ll have to work at finding out how to go about educating yourself.
Since you say you have your parents’ support, then you can choose where to invest your energy. A first step might be figuring out for yourself what you want to do, and one way is to make a comparison chart that reflects your own opinions. You can also read the Teenage Liberation Handbook or Kendall Hailey’s book about educating herself after high school.
Online schools are a possibility and there are any number of sites that will sell you an enrollment, but doing it yourself is also possible, and can be more personally rewarding. Again, each choice is work (there ain’t no free lunch) and which you choose depends on where you want to invest your energy.
I would definitely advise you to look at Pensacola Christian Academy. I was home schooled from 1st-8th grade and now I go to public high school, but that home school program is top quality and is great for anyone. It’s a really religious school, and I personally liked it, however if you aren’t too much into the whole Christian religion thing, it’s just as easy to overlook it and stick to the program anyways. How it works is the school in Pensacola video tapes classrooms during the classes and then they send you the DVDs. Everyday you have a new lesson in whatever courses you choose. In high school, you get to pick your courses. They send you the textbooks, tests, answer keys, and everything. It’s a great home schooling course that can open up outstanding opportunities, plus you can do it on your own time and do it in the comfort of your own home.
try connections academy. it’s free and online. i went there for 3 years and really liked it. it’s a public school just online and at home. connectionsacademy.com it’s only for some states but they’re adding more all the time. you should check it out. your parents don’t really have to do anything once you get started
No one can ‘teach’ you. They cannot open up your head and pour education in. It is up to YOU to get an education. Figure out what you want to learn about and go for it. The virtual public schools (K12, Connections, Insight) are public school at home and you have to meet all the same requirements as your public school so it would not be much different that where you are now.
As an adolescent you need to take charge of your education, no matter where it is, and make it work for you.
I recommend Grace Llewellyn’s Teenage Liberation Handbook: How to Quit School and get a Real Life and Education.
Good luck, you have a really great adventure ahead of you.

In California, where I teach, you need to go through the local school district offices–they can direct you to the right people. I’m not sure about Wisconsin, but it is probably the same.
